Resulta inevitable no sentir ese cosquilleo en el estómago cuando estamos por emprender un nuevo viaje. Ya sea antes, durante, o incluso después, los sentimientos salen de su cómodo estado de quietud y comienzan a enviarnos señales de que algo emocionante está por llegar. En sus distintas formas o expresiones, siempre aparecen: como miedo, ilusión, ansiedad, entusiasmo, incertidumbre, etc. Ellos siempre aparecen, en su justa medida o en exceso, siempre están presentes.
Luego de muchos años de viajar con mi bicicleta por Latinoamérica comprendí que las emociones, cualesquiera sean sus nombres o apodos, forman parte del viaje. Es en esta exquisita circunstancia cuando todo nuestro ser se moviliza, cuando los sentidos entran en un constante estado de ebullición y la mente ya no puede prever ni controlar los acontecimientos futuros, tal como la hemos acostumbrado.
Comenzamos a vivir entonces un extraño caos emocional, novedoso e incomprensible, vibrante, que revive y llena de energía cada rincón de nuestro cuerpo hasta sentirnos unos completos desconocidos. Por eso, cuando viajamos, nos sentimos vivos, entusiastas y valientes, pero por sobre todas las cosas… vivos.
Esta pequeña reflexión la escribí mientras recorría Latinoamérica en bicicleta, una aventura que se extendió por 4 años y más de 14.000 Km, uniendo Argentina con México en dos ruedas.
